Dr. Anne Johnson, DVM, encouraged those that will be attending the Jim Schumacher Day to bring a syringe, as she will be addressing proper use and maintenance of syringes.
Now able to lay claim to the best free throw shooters in the county are the new winners: Taylor Eggebrecht, Janessa Malmend, David Skiff, Erica Smith, Kooper Oxarart, Connor Clausen, Rhett Simanton, Madison Williamson, Samme Gibbs, Jonathon Siewing and Jared Siewing. These were the winners at the KC Free Throw Contest.
Warm weather wasn’t going to stop Murph’s Annual Ice Fishing Tournament to be held over next weekend. This is the ninth year of the contest.
Five Saco-Whitewater Lady Panthers were recognized at Senior Night as they took on the Malta junior varsity team, winning 57-34. Honored were Larimie Scheffelmear, Keira Simonson, Kourtney Simonson, and Kayla and Kaycee Howard.
That’s a new one…his favorite meal is fried parsnips! Kenny Jensen, retired farmer/rancher enjoys stamp collecting, the movie Johnny Belinda and Easter.
The Malta Wrestling Team placed seven of nine wrestlers in the top four. Trey Simanton placed first, Kaden Moore, 2nd, Antonio Lopez, 3rd, Chase Murray, 3rd, Keenan Schipman, 3rd, Ceaton Mears, 4th, and Mark Missildine, 4th.
The Whitewater boys’ basketball team seniors honored were Colter Lammerding, Justin Funk, Chance Love and Jeret Warren.
Dennis and DoDee Oxarart announced the engagement of their daughter, Alexandra Pratt to Doug Fawcett of Plentywood.

The county offices up for election this year are the Sheriff, which Tom Miller has filed for; and county commission, which Willie Abrahamson has filed for, and incumbent commissioner, Francis Jacobs.
Charlie Brockie was named the Geography Bee Champion from Dodson School and Matthew Dolphay was named runner up.
A familiar face at the American Red Cross blood draw, Tom Golik, achieved a milestone as he donated, reaching the nine gallon mark.
A regular contributor to the PCN, John Barton from Saco, addressed the issue of pollution in the gym – noise pollution. He cited the excess decibels damaging the ears with over cranked up volume at basketball or volleyball games. He was sure the music could be heard a couple blocks away.

Stephanie Dawn Simanton was the first baby born in the Malta hospital, her parents are Steve and Wendy.
Receiving awards at the annual Jaycee Bosses Night were Franklin Smith, Mrs. Dan Dobson, Mrs. Robert Soper, Ron Meridith, Keith Kluck, Ron Scott, Sid Solberg, Bob Johnson, Ric Floren, Ken Larson, Vic Schumacher, Jim Carver, Mike Camp and Alert Fladland.
Just because you’re growing older doesn’t mean you have to quit learning. Instructors and classes being offered for Adult Ed at MHS include: Gordon Kron (art), Janet Higgins (bookkeeping and typing), Jim Carver (woodworking), Don Feller (welding), Blanche Ivanish (advanced sewing), Doug Sabo (women’s P.E.), and Robert Rundle (aerobics).
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Cebulski celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception hosted by their sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Russ Cebulski and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cebulski.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murphy of Orvando announced the engagement of their daughter, Colleen to Scott Southwick, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Southwick.
The grand champion in the marketing breeding class at the Ak-Sar-Ben carcass show in Omaha, Nebraska was bred on the Diamond Willow Ranch owned by Willie Doll of Malta.
Laura Nordlund was named first runner-up at the Montana Junior Miss pageant in Kalispell.
Allen Ganter was installed as worshipful master of Malta Lodge 57, AF&AM. Other officers installed were Boyd Simser, RC Simpson, Robert Brandt, Roger Ulrich, Jim Curtis, Kenneth Cox, W. E. Southwick, Eugene Cowan, Eugene Mendel, Carl Eaton and Dean Robertson.
Coach Bill Ryan’s Mustangs claimed two victories over the weekend, defeating the Fort Benton Longhorns 84-58 and then outscored the Chinook Sugarbeeters 69-61.

Friends of Mrs. Florence Johnson, 68, became alarmed when she did not answer the telephone and upon going in to investigate, heard the radio playing, but there were no lights on. They found her sitting in her favorite chair where she had died listening to the radio.
The Malta Mustangs lost two games to the Wolf Point Wolves last weekend in a hoop series that was both fast and rough. Friday’s score was 65-36 and Saturday it was 65-43. Whistle-tooting was fast and frequent both nights. Total fouls called Friday was 44 and 36 on Saturday.
For the assault and robbery of $4 from a Saco woman, Kenneth Barker, aka William Hines, a transient, was sentenced to two years at hard labor at the state penitentiary.
Postmaster Lapham explained that on or about Decem. 20 a sack of mail was thrown off train 27 before it had reached the mail crane. The crew saw the lights and toss the sack out prematurely a great distance from the usual spot and it was covered by falling snow. One month later, after a thaw, it surfaced and the contents delivered to the addresses. (*you think mail now is slow!)
ROLL CALL: Budd Taylor…the recent war made a snappy soldier out of him. He’s easy enough to get along with, too. He told the story of two soldiers visiting after mail call and one screaming that his wife had been seen running around with another man. “What are you yelling at screamed the second man, “Here’s a letter from my draft board telling me I’d been rejected!”
