One Nation, Under God
Only a few knew that Fr. Nayak traveled to Chinook this last week, and rode to Helena with friends, Frank and Bettie Barber, for a very special event. Since his arrival in the United States, it has been in the back of his mind and on his bucket list to become a U.S. Citizen.
On Thursday, January 16th, Fr. Felix Nayak became Malta's newest naturalized citizen. The ceremony was held in Helena, and Malta residents were able to join and witness the swearing in ceremony. Art and Mary Lundstrom, Terri Cole, Jo Hasler, and Mary LaFond from Malta attended.
Fr. Felix is the priest at St. Mary's Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Church in Dodson.
The Oath was given by United States District Court Judge Brian Morris. Approximately 25 individuals took the oath and became citizens at this time.
Parishioners gathered for a reception and cake to honor Nayak on Sunday, Jan. 19th, following mass at St. Mary's.
