The Malta M-ette basketball team lost to the Havre Blue Ponies 57-39 last Friday, January 17, in Malta, but the team bounced back with a 67-15 victory over the Wolf Point Lady Wolves in Wolf Point on Saturday, January 18.
Malta is scheduled to face the Harlem LadyCats on Friday, January 24. The event is set to start at 3 p.m. Malta will then travel to Poplar to take on the Poplar Lady Indians on Saturday, January 25, at 1 p.m.
In Malta's win over Wolf Point, the M-ettes only allowed one point in the first quarter, while they racked up 19. Malta outscored Wolf Point 24-5 in the second quarter, 10-5 in the third quarter, and 14-4 in the fourth quarter.
The M-ettes were led by junior Neva Jacobson who had 14 points and three rebounds.
Emree Stuart had 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Denvyr Tuss had 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kylie Bishop had eight points. Tailynn Wilke had seven points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Hailey Welch had six points and four steals.
Kendall Clausen had three points, nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Kelbie Nelson had two points and four rebounds. Klohie Zeiger had two points and two rebounds. Emma Ereaux had two points.
The M-ettes forced 25 turnovers and only turned the ball over six times. They outrebounded Wolf Point 48 to 20.
Malta was led by Tuss in their loss to Havre. Tuss had a 12 point, 18 rebound, double-double.
Jacobson had nine points and four assists. Nelson had five points and two steals. Stuart had four points and six rebounds. Wilke had four points and four rebounds. Clausen had three points and four rebounds.
Malta made 5-of-6 (83.3%) free throw attempts. The M-ettes had 28 points in the paint, while holding Havre to 20. Malta outrebounded Havre 42 to 27.
Malta had 17 turnovers, while Havre had eight.
