Lady Mavs Pick Up Two More Wins

The North Country Lady Mavericks basketball team added a couple of wins to their record last weekend, and the team is now 11-0 this season.

The Lady Mavericks defeated the Lustre Christian Lady Lions in Saco 62-26 on Friday, January 17. They also defeated the Nashua Porcupines 62-16 on Saturday, January 18.

The Lady Mavericks are scheduled to host the Frazer Lady Bearcubs in Hinsdale on Friday, January 24 at 5:30 p.m. The Mavericks will then travel to Dodson to take on the Lady Coyotes in the Coyote Den at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 25.

The Lady Mavs outscored Nashua 22-2 in the first quarter, 14-7 in the second, 15-5 in the third, and 9-2 in the fourth.

North Country was led by BaiLee McColly who had 21 points and four steals.

Shelbi LaBrie had nine points. Kodi McColly had eight points, five rebounds, and three steals. CharLee McColly had six points and four steals. Lyli Bear had five points. Berkeley Hillman had three points and two steals. Reese Bowman had three points, Jersey Sallee/Cornwell had two points. Emerson Downing had two points, and Kennedy Simonson had one point.

The Lady Mavs forced 34 Nashua turnovers and scored 42 points in the paint.

B. McColly led the Mavs in their win over Lustre with 20 points, nine rebounds, and five steals.

LaBrie had 19 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and five steals. Simonson had eight points. Gracie Wasson had five points. C. McColly had four points, K. McColly had two points, Downing had two points, five rebounds, and three steals, Ainsley Erickson had two points.

The Mavericks only turned the ball over six times but forced the Lady Lions to make 26 turnovers.
