Mavericks Lose to Scobey, To Face Lustre and Nashua

The North Country Mavericks varsity basketball team lost their lone game of the week to the Scobey Spartans in Scobey. The score was 73-33.

The Mavericks will look to rebound this week as they head to Saco on Friday, January 17, to face the Lustre Lions, who are 8-1 and 3-1 in 3C Conference play. The games start at 4 p.m. with a girls JV game.

The Mavericks will then travel to Nashua to take on the Nashua Porcupines on Saturday, January 18, with games starting at 5:30 p.m. Nashua is 2-6 so far this season and 1-3 in 3C Conference games.

In the Mavericks’ loss to Scobey, the Mavericks were led by senior Blaine Downing who had 17 points, three steals, two rebounds, and two assists.

Kade Strommen had four points and seven rebounds. Coy Bowman had four points. Jake Brown, Laytin Erickson, and Chase Albus each scored two points.
