Alvina Doucette passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025 at Rivers Bend in Malta.

Alvina Marion Heidt was born November 17, 1931 in New England, ND to Frank and Katie Heidt. She was the third of nine children.

The family moved to Corvallis, MT in 1936 away from the Dustbowl and to a better life. Like all farm kids, Alvina worked in the sugar beet fields, did chores and cared for the younger ones. After graduating high school in 1949, she set out on her first adventure to Helena. In 1962, she moved her small family to Phoenix, AZ where it continued to grow. In 1963, the still growing family made its final move to Malta.

Alvina quickly settled into the lifestyle and worked several jobs, at Kens Thriftway and the Courthouse. She bought and ran the Big Sky Motel (now the Sportsman) for several years.

She moved gracefully into retirement with her crossword puzzles, her solitaire game and the loves of her life, her grandkids. Each night she would take her small glass of wine outside and watch the neighborhood.

Now she is watching from above with all who went before her.

She is survived by her children Mary(Gary) Britt Jersey City, NJ; Leslie(Don) Omsberg Federal Way WA; Chip Gibbs Helena; Bill(Kimberly) Gibbs Billings; Pat Gibbs Malta. Her grandchildren Aaron(Sasha) Omsberg Federal Way WA; Andrea (Josh) Fox San Diego CA; Bret Omsberg San Jose, CA; Spencer Gibbs Laurel; Samme and Sydney Gibbs Dickinson ND; Leena McIntyre and Brandon Baldry Billings. Her great grandchildren Anthony, Mason and Liliana Omsberg Federal Way WA. Her sisters Frances Pfau Stevensville; Catherine Dudinsky Spokane WA and Mary Dorsey Mead WA. Many nieces and nephews and many many grand nieces and nephews.

We give special thanks to Emily and the Rivers Bend staff who treated her with kindness and generosity of spirit.

A memorial service will be planned for the spring.
