One Nation, Under God
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen was sworn in and begins his second term today. During his second term, Attorney General Knudsen will continue to fight drugs and crime in communities across the state and protect Montanans’ freedoms and liberties to safeguard the Montana way of life.
As the head of the Montana Department of Justice, Attorney General Knudsen is the State’s top legal and public safety official. Along with defending the State’s legal interests and his duty to prosecute the worst of the worst criminals, he oversees the Montana Highway Patrol, Division of Criminal Investigation, State Crime Lab, Montana Law Enforcement Academy, Motor Vehicle Division, and Gambling Control Division.
“I am honored Montanans overwhelmingly elected me to serve as Attorney General for another term. I was a county prosecutor when I initially ran in 2020, and I saw firsthand the devastation illicit drugs and crime were having on Montana families and our communities. Unfortunately, there was little being done by state officials to address the problems at the time. I immediately went to work, and we have made great strides at the Montana Department of Justice to crack down on drugs, human trafficking, sex offenders, and other criminals, but I’m not done yet,” Attorney General Knudsen said. “The last four years have also been riddled with disaster after disaster courtesy of President Biden, whose term can’t end soon enough. He flung the gates at the southern border wide open, making way for the dangerous drugs flowing freely into our country, costing hundreds of thousands of lives. He also attacked our energy industry, our right to keep and bear arms, and allowed his special interest allies on the left to dictate policy from classrooms to the appliances in our homes. We fought back and have been successful in a number of our 59 lawsuits against his administration. Now, I look forward to working with President Trump to keep Montana and our country safe, secure, and prosperous.”
Prior to serving as Attorney General, he served as Roosevelt County Attorney and served four legislative sessions in the Montana House of Representatives, two as Speaker of the House. He has made combatting crime and supporting law enforcement priorities of his administrations, as well as protecting Montanans rights and freedoms not only from the federal government, but from woke companies and Big Tech.
