This week, Phillips County varsity basketball teams won each game that they participated in. The Malta Mustangs and M-ettes competed in Shelby at the Coyote Classic, while the North Country Mavericks and Lady Mavericks competed in Lewistown.
The Malta varsity teams were scheduled to face the Havre Blue Ponies in Havre on Tuesday, December 17. Results from that game will be in the December 25 issue of the PCN.
The North Country varsity teams will head to Frazer to take on the Bearcubs on Friday, December 20. The games start at 4 p.m. The Mavericks and Lady Mavericks will then face the Dodson Coyotes and Lady Coyotes who did not have any game scheduled last week. Dodson and North Country are scheduled to play on Saturday, December 21.
Malta Mustangs
The Mustangs defeated the Florence-Carlton Falcons 79-47 on Friday, December 13, and the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks 74-62.
Bohdi Brenden had 25 points, six assists, six steals, and five rebounds in Malta's win over Florence-Carlton. He made five three-point shots.
Kazner Oxarart had 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Kruise Stiles had 11 points. Oxarart and Kr. Stiles each made three three-point shots. Treyton Wilke had a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double, six assists, and two steals. Dawson Hammond had eight points, three rebounds and two steals. Kash Stiles had six points, five rebounds, and two assists. Regan Stuart had three points and three steals.
Brenden had 27 points, four steals, four rebounds, and three assists in the Mustangs' win over Thompson Falls. He made five three-point shots.
Stuart had 11 points and five rebounds. Kr. Stiles had 11 points. Wilke had 10 points, nine rebounds,six assists, and four steals. K. Oxarart had 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Ka. Stiles had two points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Malta M-ettes
The Malta M-ettes defeated the Florence-Carlton Lady Falcons 63-46 last Friday, and the Thompson Falls Lady Blue Hawks 67-37 last Saturday.
In Malta's win over Thompson Falls, Malta was led by Neva Jacobson who had 23 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jacobson went 10-of-11 from the field and made both of her free throw attempts.
Denver Tuss had a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double. Tuss also had three steals and two blocks. Kylie Bishop had five points and two steals.
Emree Stuart had five points, four rebounds, and three assists. Emma Ereaux had four points and three rebounds. Tailynn Wilke had three points and seven rebounds. Kendall Clausen had two points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Kelbie Nelson had two points, three rebounds, and two assists. Hailey Welch had two points, five rebounds, and three assists. Klohie Zeiger had two points.
Tuss led Malta in their victory over Florence-Carlton. Tuss had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.
Clausen had 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals. She also made 3-of-4 of her three point attempts. Jacobson has 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Stuart had seven points, five rebounds and two steals. Welch had six points, two rebounds, and two steals. Nelson had five points and three rebounds. Ta. Wilke had four points and three rebounds. Bishop had two points and three steals.
North Country Lady Mavericks
The North Country Lady Mavericks defeated the Centerville Lady Miners 72-20 last Friday and the Roy-Winifred Lady Outlaws 45-38 last Saturday.
Shelbi LaBrie led the charge in North Country's win over Centerville with 19 points, six steals, four assists, and two rebounds.
Emerson Downing had 15 points, three assists, and three steals. Downing made 7-of-8 shot attempts. BaiLee McColly had eight points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Ainsley Erickson had eight points and four rebounds. Gracie Wasson had six points, three rebounds, and three assists. Berkley Hillman had four points, two assists, and two steals. CharLee McColly had four points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Kennedy Simonson, Lyli Bear, and Kodi McColly each had two points.
Downing led North Country with 13 points in their win over Roy-Winifred. B. McColly and Erickson both scored 10 points. Wasson had five points, LaBrie had four points, and C. McColly both had three points.
North Country Mavericks
The North Country Mavericks boys varsity defeated the Hobson-Moore-Judith Gap Titans 74-31 last Friday and the Centerville Miners 49-46 last Saturday.
The Mavericks were led by Blaine Downing who had 22 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Laytin Erickson had 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and two steals. Coy Bowman had 13 points, nine assists, and four steals. Kade Strommen had 12 points and three rebounds. Chase Albus had six points. Jake Brown had three points, three rebounds, and three assists. Sam Simonson had three points.
