The musical acts coming to perform at the Phillips County Fair were announced and include the “Texas Tornado” Casey Donahew Band opening for Country Music Star Clay Walker.
The talented Winston Mitchell is in the Sr. Spotlight and is a retired rancher who loves lobster tail. Favorites include rattlesnakes and working with cedar or juniper.
At the Tuesday night City Council meeting the board members once again heard from a city resident who had the sewer back up into her home’s basement. “We had number five last Sunday night,” she said. The PWD feels that the problem is a result of items being flushed at the hospital that shouldn’t be.
Saco’s Tom DePuydt was elected as president of the group that met and formed the County Farm Bureau, and Terri Robinson will serve as secretary.
Eva Oxarart enjoyed the company of family as she celebrated her 80th birthday at the HiLine Retirement Center.
The Milk River Beef Builders 4-H Club donated much needed socks to the Malta Food Bank. Twenty-six pair were provided to the Food Bank Volunteer June Cornell.
Malta Mustangs did a little more than just protect their home court against Class A’s Fergus Golden Eagle last Saturday. They put on a clinic, thrashing Fergus 59-30 in Malta’s home opener.
The Malta M-ettes are playing just as fast and furious as they were last season, which may be scary for any team they face. Malta faced Fergus in their home opener and blew them out 52-30.
The basketball season has just begun and Saco-Whitewater Lady Panthers are 4-1 after last week’s action.

The Dodson Coyotes got off to a good start with a 68-43 win over Stanford and a 63-50 over Augusta in the Big Sandy tournament this past weekend.
Saco Panthers Jeff Freeman and Tom Sunford combined for 34 points in the Saco-Westby game, winning 58-34.
The group putting together the Millennium party are relying on volunteerism for the event to be a success. “It’s being run more as a large family party than as a Tijuana night.”
The long arm of the law and some not so subtle hints apparently persuaded the thieves responsible for stealing battery powered ornamental light posts to return them to the sheriff’s office.
Kathleen Solberg became the bride of Adam Sinnema at a ceremony at the Malta Lutheran Church.
Adam Johnson got a last second take-down to win his match with Joe Sugg to claim first place in the 145-pound weight class in Glasgow.
Clara Veseth always believed in Santa Claus and taught her kids and great grandkids if they believed in Santa he will bring you something. “I must have been good because Santa came to see her and dance with her on her 90th birthday.
Junior Juliann Keller of the state champion Malta M-ettes was officially named the Most Valuable Player of the Class B State Tournament held recently in Belgrade.

Roger Dale Ereaux was the driver of a pickup that overturned on the Regina road 6.3 miles south of Malta. Ereaux was heading south and drove off the road and the vehicle overturned on its right side. Neither Ereaux nor his passengers were injured and moderate damage was reported to the vehicle.
The Exotics North sale held at the Milk River Pavilion brought in $159,735 is sales to consignors. The group thanked Don Hould, president, Willie Doll, secretary, and Ron Scott, his staff and clerks for a fourth successful year.
Upcoming wedding include Holly Wilke and Rory Jones at the Dodson Lutheran Church on Dec. 21st, Deborah Maxie and Michael Hammond at the Malta Lutheran Church on Dec. 28th, and Betty Ann Erdahl to Kenneth Hughes at the Malta Lutheran Church on Dec. 29th.
The Malta police force and the county sheriff’s office are investigating a series of incidents including a break in at the GN resulting in the theft of a 22 Lugar in a brown case and a pair of binoculars, according to Alert Fladland, chief of police. Also stolen were citizen band radios stolen out of two buses owned by Keith Holmes. Sunday evening fire extinguishers were emptied in the apartments above McKoy’s Furniture.
Those watching the national finals at the Cowboys Association rodeo on television Saturday night heard of a bull and a bareback bucking horse from Malta, MT. The bull, Tarzan, and the horse, Springtime, are owned by local stock contractor, J.J. Smith. This might be the first time that Malta, Mont. was mentioned on a nationwide television program.

The board of county commissioners this week approved the appointment of Stephan Granat as deputy county attorney. He had previously studied law for three years while working as law clerk in County Attorney James Harrison.

John Suter was elected president of the Farm Bureau to succeed Gerald DeWit. John Mangis was the new vice-president, Norman Hicks was secretary and W. E. Thompson was treasurer-elect. The new board of directors included DeWit, Frank Pouliot and Henry Rocek.
Saco trimmed Malta at basketball, 19-18. Malta gladiators included Cauffman, Verzatt, Secrest, and Koon. Saco played J. Tinney, O’Brien, Fjelstad, Millions and F. Tinney.

There was a coal famine in Malta due to non-delivery from the mines. Even the Enterprise did not have enough on hand to keep the printshop warm, and it was making plenty of noise about it.
Lyman Barners, newly elected county attorney treasurer, had gone to Helena to learn some wrinkles in connection with his new job, due to start the first of the year.
