MDT: Road Reopened on Dodson South Canal Project

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its partner, Wickens Construction, have reopened Secondary Highway 204 (S 204). Following the completion of the guardrail installation on the Milk River Bridge, construction will be paused on the Dodson South Canal project for the winter. The detour required for the rehabilitation of the Milk River Bridge and the replacement of the Dodson South Canal box culvert is no longer active, though single-lane traffic should be expected during the remaining work on the guardrail.

“We’re appreciative of the public’s patience and cooperation with the road closures while we replaced the bridge at Dodson South Canal and rehabilitated the Milk River Bridge,” said Shane Mintz, MDT Glendive District Administrator. This year, crews rehabilitated the Milk River Bridge and replaced the bridge over the Dodson South Canal with a 14-foot by 10-foot double-cell concrete box culvert. The guardrail will be completed this fall/winter. When construction resumes in the spring, S 204 will be overlayed between US Highway 2 and the Dodson South Canal and the roadway over the new box culvert will be paved and striped. During construction, traffic control and single-lane traffic is expected however another closure of the road is not anticipated at this time.
