The parents, George and Berta Anderson of Dodson, have two daughters, Katie Kautz and Jennifer Bessette, who are Dodson High graduates. Grandpa and Grandma have to sit on the both sides of the cheering section when Katie’s son, Hunter Hould, and Jennifer’s son, Austin Bessette, play each other on the football field.
Markelle Lett and Larimie Scheffelmear were named to the volleyball 1st Team All-Conference; Scheffelmear was also named to the All-State Selection.
The Malta Chamber of Commerce was holding the 3rd Annual Putt Crawl, and proceeds are “FORE” a good cause.
Jacina Doney, daughter of Rochell GrayBoy, and Jessica Parker, daughter of Karen Jones, were selected at the Dodson High School Students of the Month.
Seven Malta Mustang football players received All-Conference honors. They are Quintan Boos, Antonio Lopez, Cole Brown, Tyson Carney, Jordan Pierce, and Allen Williamson.
The Malta School Board approved the purchase of a new intercom system for the elementary school, costing $8,005.50, as the current one is on the fritz since a lightning strike near the school.
Deputy Jerry Welch attended and completed a week of SWAT basic training.

Undersheriff Tom Miller has become the acting sheriff following the resignation of Sheriff Gene Peigneux on Oct. 31.
KMMR selected a 12-member all-tournament team based strictly on performances at the 3-C District Tournament. Selected were Francine KillEagle, Erica DePuydt, Melanie Green, Tricia Hammond, Sheena Olsen, Jennifer Dull, Theresa Red Dog, Philisha Four Star, Juli Kirkland, Devin Johnston, Tawney Solberg, and Jodee Fossum.
Pvt. First Class Alex Anderson has graduated from Infantry Training Brigade at Ft. Benning, GA., after 14 weeks of infantry training.
Kale Wilke walked out of district court with a chance to make something of his life-a chance Jack Brogan will never have. In the death of Brogan, Wilke was sentenced to a six year deferred imposition.
The Street Talk question was “What do you think of the people who are running for Governor of Montana? Responding were Marie Wasson: I think there are too many of them; Judy Korsbeck: I think they’re ALL political; Alfred Grabofsky: I’d vote for one, but I’d rather not vote for any of those; and George Knudsen: Some are very political in choosing their Lt. Governor, and I don’t think they’ve made a clear statement on what their political agenda for the state is.”
Robert Twiford, local chapter official and owner of Malta Marina, and Jim Carver, attended a meeting of the Walleyes Chapter, donated $5,000 to the Fort Peck Hatchery; they hope to raise another $5,000 to go toward the warm-water hatchery.

A 1,200-pound steer purchased from Ike Blatter was the first beef to be processed through the new Hi-Line Market packing plant.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Waters were to be honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house. The event will be held at the Little White Church of Dec. 1st.
The Malta Mustangettes begin play in the Class A Northern Division Basketball Tournament in Cut Bank this week. Traveling will be Grace Grabofsky, Donna Mendel, Reene McKeon, Karen Kangas, Sherry Green, Janice Anderson, Annie Bebee, Judy VanHoudt, Becky Grabofsky, Lori Sjostrom, Susan Mendel, Janet Baeth, JoAnne McKeon, and Shaune Ereaux.
Mrs. Clara Lodmell, Mrs. BJ Goodheart and Mrs. Harold Miller were initiated into the VFW Auxiliary.
Lewis Johnson, Malta accountant, was found dead in his home on Tues.; services are pending.
Selected for the All-Conference team were Malta Mustangs Ed Cerkovnik, Jim Bebee, Dan Lundstrom and Byron Hould.
Mrs. Mary Nelson, 72, was struck and killed by a locomotive while crossing tracks on the crosswalk in front of the depot.
Mr. and Mrs. Les Solberg were first place winners at Duplicate Bridge. Mrs. Jim Hicks and Ralph Patrick were second; Dr. RW Norrbohm and Grace Nessland, third; Mrs. William Ashby and Mrs. Kenneth Knutson, fourth; and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Robertson, fifth.

An escaped convict arrested in Sioux City, Iowa, has confessed to the robbery of the Hanson Implement here of Nov. 1. Glenn Locke, 48, alias Frank Fisher, was arrested and admitted cracking the safe in the local implement shop. He is being held at the state penitentiary where he had been serving a life sentence for being a habitual crook. Under his alias he worked in Malta as a member of the Great Northern extra gang.
A quota of 300 members has been established for the Buster Deo Post 4067 of the VFW. The post now lists 238 members. Harold Miller was elected the new junior vice commander to fill the expired term of Bill Kaufman who felt he did not have the time necessary to handle the job capably.
The Whitewater church was the scene of a beautiful candlelight ceremony when Marjorie Murdock of Whitewater, and Milton Olson, of Forks, were united in marriage.
Glenn Compton of Loring was married to Elizabeth Remy, of Great Falls in Great Falls.
Arlyn Hanson suffered painful but minor injuries when his clothing became involved in the power takeoff shaft of a tractor and was stripped from his body. A number of stitches were taken in the wound, and the boy is resting in bed at home where he will be confined for about a week.
Local guardsmen traveled to Havre to take part in the Armistice Day Parade. Participating in the drill team from Malta were George Hoynes, Pete Score, Jan Knudson, Ben Eschenbacher, Harvey Kaul, Homer Blevins, Budd Taylor, Wesley Anderson, Hillard Dufloth, Ed Tank and Lt. Bill Bell.

Phillips County farmers had virtually made a clean sweep of the awards at a corn show in Wolf Point. Winning exhibitors from here included J. N. Mangis, Gerald DeWit, Levi Shelton, Ed Henry, O.P. Norman, J.D. Seibert, J.B. Garey, J.C. Waters, Paul Albert and Ben Hendrickson.
Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Thompson were the parents of a boy.
C.M. Porter, clerk of the district court, was confined to his home due to ill health.
Mark your calendars for the wedding dance on the 25th at the Forks Hall, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Keith Anderson. Music by Phil Long and his Starbusters.
An automobile driven by Douglas Bishop of Malta, was involved in an accident in Havre, when it collided to another vehicle. Both vehicles suffered damage, Mrs. Bishop received an injured ankle. Bishop was charged with reckless driving and fined $10 in Havre police court.
Warren Adams of Dodson was seriously injured when a truck driven by Robert Kirkaldie left the road and turned over near the Rolling M reservoir.
The Blunt Brothers will provide music for the wedding dance on Saturday night for Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cebulski, and everyone is welcome.

Adolph LaFond, Sr., had returned from the east with a carload of miscellaneous articles including several hundred chickens. *Can one imagine the stench in that car coming that far with several hundred chickens? Sounds like someone I know.
Ben Stevens had purchased the store and layout of J.C. Elder at Dodson and was preparing to carry on the mercantile business.
