One Nation, Under God

Coach Hines Issues a Statement For 2024 M-ettes, Reflection on Season

I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible season we've just finished. The hurdles and challenges we faced together only strengthened our values, and finishing the season this strong will always hold a special place in our program's history. The heart and determination exhibited by our team were truly remarkable. While we made mistakes along the way, we persevered together, which speaks volumes about our unity. We are so proud of our M-ettes!!

Our record of 7-3 in conference play and 17-9 overall reflects our hard work and dedication. A special shoutout to our three all-conference players: Denvyr Tuss earned first-team all-conference and all-state honors, Kendall Clausen was also recognized as first-team all-conference, and Ava landed a spot on the second team all-conference. As captains also, their positive leadership was instrumental in guiding us throughout the season.

I would like to highlight our senior players, Kelbie Nelson and Ava Hanson, who were crucial to our success. Their growth mindset, which they cultivated over the years and summer, carried through the season and played a significant role in our achievements. Ava had an impressive year, finishing with a hitting average of 16% efficiency and 180 kills, along with 57 aces. Kelbie led the team with 533 digs and 198 perfect serve-receive passes, showcasing her exceptional skills. Though Macey Blunt faced challenges with her knee injury, her unwavering support and enthusiasm were invaluable. We will miss our seniors dearly, but we are excited to see what the future holds for them.

Denvyr Tuss stood out as a powerhouse, leading the team with a hitting efficiency of 25% and a remarkable 258 kills, along with 85 blocks. Despite battling headaches, she consistently played with intelligence and passion. Kendall Clausen stepped in as a dependable setter midway through the season and also proved again, to be that reliable hitter. Neva Jacobson was our assist leader with 420 assists, showcasing her growth and determination especially during the postseason. Hailey Welch, Emree Stuart, and Shaylee Hines contributed significantly to our defensive strategies, bringing a ready mindset that was very important. AJ Marquis, Carly Mears and Tailynn Wilke were also crucial, in key moments they were always ready to elevate the team's performance.

Looking at our roster, I see a well-rounded and versatile group where each player is capable of excelling in multiple skills. This depth was a game changer for us. I cannot express enough how proud I am of this team. I will forever cherish the camaraderie we shared, especially that moment in the locker room after the fifth set when everyone lifted each other up after we gave it all on the court. That sense of unity is what defines a true team, and it will stay with us always. It's an exciting future for us, and we couldn’t be more ready!

So, Thank You to everyone for the support and following! It’s always a good day to bleed blue!
