VFW Essays Judged

The local VFW Auxiliary was able to convince three individuals of the importance of serving as a judge for the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen essays. The lucky three spent nearly four hours on Saturday listening to 63 of the 65 essays submitted. From this group, placing were tallied up for an honorable mention, as well as first, second and third place at Post Level.

Volunteering for the prestigious and dubious honor were Jenny Crowder, Greg Kirkwood and Clair Waters.

Mrs. Shyla Clausen is to be commended for her diligence and support of the programs, as all 65 entries were from her students. It is great to know that there are strong supporters of the youth, democracy and Americanism.

The entries will be submitted to compete with other entries within the district level and then the winners will be advanced to state competition.
