One Nation, Under God
I have never been a fan of the commercialization of Christmas, but I have had a change of heart.
I wouldn’t call myself a Grinch, but perhaps a levels below one. I typically loathe the crazy amount of Christmas movies and the strain it puts on my paycheck.
The most important issue in my opinion is that many forget about the first part of the word Christmas.
Despite my disdain for the commercialization of the holiday, this year, I am looking forward to it.
Yes, I am looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus. But this year, I am looking forward to the movies, the tree, the presents. Almost all of it. Not the songs.
Though I agree with people want to set up their Christmas tree a day after Halloween in 2024. I definitely am not looking forward to the music.
I am looking forward to people being happy, I hope.
I do know that my family looks forward to the time that we will be spending together. I am looking forward to seeing my family’s face when they open their presents and the thrill of finding out whether I did good on my Christmas present selections. I know it is kind of shallow, but that feeling of validation feels good.
I look forward to turning on our electric fireplace and eating chili dogs, though I suppose I can do that anytime. It hits different when it is cold outside.
Though I hope that I don't have to use my snowblower often, I do hope that I get to use it at least once this winter.
