Lady Mavericks Earn First-Round Bye in District 1C Tournament

The North Country Volleyball Team (13-2) finished second in the 12-team 1C Conference thanks in part to a strong finish last Saturday, where the Lady Mavs defeated Culbertson and MonDak in a double-header.

North Country Head Coach Charlene Wasson expressed pride in her young team, which is working hard to repeat the success that they have had in previous years.

"This year's Mavericks were very inexperienced in Varsity playing time but not skill level," Coach Wasson said. "They improved and became a well-oiled machine. I look for us to roll into tournaments better than we were all season long. Up our style and level of play to compete and keep advancing."

The Mavs now head to the 1C District Tournament in Plentywood which is set to begin on Thursday, October 31, and conclude on Saturday, November 2.

The Mavericks will work to become one of four 1C teams that reach the Eastern C Divisional in Sidney on Thursday, November 7.

This Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., the Lady Mavs will take on the winner of Game 4 between Richey-Lambert and Nashua, a game which takes place at 4:30 p.m. that same day.

The Mavs defeated Richey-Lambert 3-1 on Friday, September 6, and Nashua 3-0 on Saturday, September 21.

In North Country's win over Culbertson, the scores were 25-18, 19-25, 25-17, and 25-21.

"After their win over Culbertson, the Mavs loaded the bus and traveled to Westby to take on their last conference match against the MonDak Thunder at 5:30 p.m.," Coach Wasson said. "This match was dominated by North Country who put together a three-straight sweep."

The scores against Mon-Dak were 25-8, 25-20, and 25-14.
