VFW Buster Deo Post 4067 was well represented at the District 5 meeting of the VFW and Auxiliary in Plentywood on Saturday, Sept. 21. Jim Layton, Past Department Commander, and member of the National Council attended the VFW meeting.
Auxiliary members attending were Carolyn Schmoeckel, Department of Montana President. Officers attending from the local auxiliary included Michelle Stevens, President; Sharon Kindle, Secretary; Kari Hould, Treasurer; Shirley Reynolds, Trustee; and Vincent Schmoeckel, Guard.
The auxiliary meeting included school of instruction information for the various officers and their duties, provided by District Auxiliary President Violet Tharp. Department President Schmoeckel also addressed strengthening the unit and growing stronger. The Malta auxiliary had the most members in attendance.
The morning began with breakfast served at the VFW by volunteers.
This meeting was also the “Homecoming” for VFW Department President Lonnie Johnson, of Plentywood. He served a banquet of brisket, brats, bbq ribs, and various salads. Guests also received a glass with Johnson’s logo and information embossed on it.
Following the meeting, awards were presented. The evening ended with a raffle of various items.
