One Nation, Under God

Karen Kay Boos (May 10, 1943-September 18, 2024)

Karen Kingsbury Boos, 81, a homemaker and retired banker, passed away with her family by her side on September 18, 2024, at Advanced Care Hospital in Billings, Montana of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Karen was born May 10, 1943, in Great Falls, Montana to Charles and Mildred Kingsbury of Denton, Montana. She grew up on the family farm north of Denton; and attended and graduated from Denton Public School. She attended U of M before starting to work at the Billings State Bank in Billings, Montana.

In 1965, Karen met and married Thomas Boos and they lived in Malta and shared forty-nine wonderful years together before Tom passed away in 2014. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Greg and Gary.

In her early years, Karen grew up loving fishing, camping, and hunting which extended through her married life. She loved all animals and spent many hours listening to Tom and Greg play and sing country music. Many hours were spent at all the athletic activities starting with little league baseball and extending through football, basketball and track. And later, watching and enjoying her two grandsons' sporting activities.

Karen worked for ten years for Dr. R.M. Wiprud, M.D., until he closed his office. She then went to work at the First State Bank of Malta. She retired from banking after twenty-two years and began helping Tom on the family farm; often enjoying coffee and lunch get-togethers with family and friends.

Karen is survived by her brother, Jack Kingsbury of Townsend, MT; sons, Greg (Carla) of Malta and Gary (Katie) of Billings; two grandsons, Hunter of Billings and Walker of Red Lodge; granddaughter, Kelcee of Billings; two great-granddaughters; close cousin, Lennis Ziesemer; sisters-in-law, Mary Lavey and Lillian Boos; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A Memorial Prayer Service will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Malta on Saturday, September 28th, at 10:00 a.m. Afterward, we will continue to celebrate Karen's life with a luncheon and time of fellowship at Stretch's Pizza. Private committal services will take place at the Malta Cemetery.
