Dodson Cross Country 2024

Dodson Has a Total of 15 Runners This Year

The Dodson Coyote Cross Country Program features 10 high schoolers and five middle schools in 2024.

The Coyotes have one senior this season; Junior Stiffarm. Stiffarm is in his second year of running cross country.

"His goal is to do his best and PR at every race," Dodson Head Coach Tianna Bloomer said. "He is very encouraging of his teammates. This is the largest boys team I have ever had, I have six boys running this year."

The Coyotes have three juniors this season including Donovan Posey, Lance KillEagle and Brayden Jones. Posey and KillEagle both qualified for state last season and have qualified due to their times in Wolf Point a couple of weeks ago.

Coach Bloomer took a moment to talk about the runners in her junior class:

Donovan Posey is a junior this year, he has worked hard over the summer and went to a couple camps. He has turned into a great leader and also is very supportive of his teammates. He took second at Wolf Point and his goal is to place at every meet and to medal at state. He is very determined.

Lance KillEagle is returning this year as a junior. He also has the potential to stay up near the front. His biggest battle is himself and we are working on that every day. He qualified for state at Wolf Point running one of his best times.

Brayden Jones is also a junior this year and qualified for state at Wolf Point with a time of 22:00 flat. It is his first year running and he has the ability to stay up at the front. I advise them all to keep Donnie in their sights.

Rounding out the boys varsity team is sophomore Jaxon Jones and Tygh Healy, an eighth grader. Coach Bloomer talked about J. Jones and Healy:

Jaxon Jones is a sophomore this year. It is his first year running and is doing pretty well. He injured himself the other day so hopefully this weekend he will be okay. He is very close to qualifying and will accomplish that in the next couple meets.

Tygh Healy, my not so little 8th grader, is 6'2 and works hard every day at practice. He chose to step up and take on the high school 5K. It is his first year running. He brings determination and grit to the team. He never gives up and tries his best.

So my boys team of six has the potential to make some noise at state this year. Their overall goal is to place as a team and I think they can do it.

The Lady Coyotes team consists of Precious Stiffarm and Kashton Siers, who both ran for Dodson last season.

Siers has already qualified for state by posting a time of 26:00 and taking 18th place in Wolf Point.

"She never gave up and tried her best," Coach Bloomer said. "She finished well and was surprised at herself for how well she did. It is her first year running. Her brother is Donovan and he is a huge support for her. Lots of positivity amongst them."

Coach Bloomer has been impressed with how much P. Stiffarm has improved.

"Precious has improved since last year and once she races I think she will surprise herself and qualify quickly," Coach Bloomer said. "She never gives up and puts the effort in to improve every day."

Coach Bloomer said that the team's overall goal is to improve over the season. They will focus on cutting out walking, and trying their best.

"So far I haven't had any complaints and their practices have been a little more intense this year since our normal practice route is inaccessible," Coach Bloomer said. "Running up a steep hill for almost a mile everyday seems to have helped them improve. I am excited to see how the rest of the season goes."

The junior high team consists of three boys and four girls.

The boys team is Bentley Banks-8th, Emmitt LoneBear- 5th- and Alijah KillEagle- 4th. The girls team is Mahina Cuts the Rope- 8th, Maylie Lepkowski-8th, Maliyah Doney- 6th, and Ivis KillEagle-5th.
