One Nation, Under God

Loring/Affinity News for Wednesday, September 11, 2024

September came in on a furnace! Very hot and it’s going to last for at least another few days! Not really complaining since soon it’ll be 110 degrees lower! That’s Montana!

My little 3’ x 3’ farm is really producing some yummy tomatoes! I also have one cantaloupe that is not ripe, but I hope it will be soon!

The raised gardens here are just so luscious! Beautiful flowers of all kinds! The vine veggies are crawling out of their area! Just fabulous!

I had a birthday party on Labor Day with the people here at Affinity. My sister and her family were in charge. She asked me to tell the guests three things that they didn’t know about me. So, I told them that I wrote a column for the Phillips County newspaper about my hometown. But since I moved here I changed the name to include Affinity so that sometimes there is mention of what’s going on around here. Louie Miller called me the one who writes a column in the PCN when I moved in. He still gets the paper and passes it on to others from north by the border!

Nancy Murdock stayed with me on Sunday evening. We had a great time at the Billings Studio Theater watching the musical Waitress. Such a treat!

Sadness hit our area this last week with the passing of Sarina Green Venable of Miles City. She was a leader in so many ways. Condolences to her family.

More sadness when Egan Alan Boschee died in a four-wheeler accident. His memorial was in Billings. Both of these caring people were students of mine in the old days. May they both rest in peace.

This whole month Saturn should be prominent in the night sky. It is a bright golden color in the east early evening and travels higher as the month goes on.

Be safe y’all! Til next week!
