Malta Welcomes New Social Studies Teacher

The staff and students of Malta High School welcome Miss Erika Siegelin to the halls of the Mustangs and M-ettes as the new social studies teacher.

She fills the vacancy of Mr. Wilson who moved on.

Siegelin hails from Polson, Montana, where she graduated. She has taught in Custer County and Pretty Eagle Schools (a Catholic Indian School). She recently moved here from Hardin. She has also lived in Michigan and Indiana.

She received her education at Montana State University-Bozeman. Her field of studies will be geography, economics and history.

"I enjoy the outdoors...walks and hikes and outdoor activities. I like to crochet." She stated she enjoys audio books, and she enjoys cooking.

At this time, she has not volunteered for any extra-curricular actitivies as a staff member, she is waiting to see how full her classloads are before making decisions of that nature. At the school, her schedule is quite full with six classes.

Siegelin comes from a family of six - including her parents, two sisters and a brother. She grew up with a soccer and 4-H background.

"I like to be involved in the community, in Hardin I had a good group of friends."

She is looking forward to the opportunities, changes and challenges Malta may offer.

Extend a warm welcome to Miss Siegelin and make her feel "at home."
