Beyond the Barn:

4-H Open Entries Up for 2024 Phillips County Fair

While the barns were seeing a bit of action, between the horses naying, porkers squealing, turkeys gobbling and hens sitting patiently (*hens don't make noise)...there is the other side of 4-H and Open Class and entries this year were up. Again, the name of the game was Fan City, as efforts were made to maintain the temperature were almost futile...but they made it!

The talents of the youth in the County was portrayed in the various means of medium used by the kids, from painting, beadwork, photography, art, and leatherwork was impressive. The young at heart is only limited to one's own self-conception...we are as young as we want to be. If you believe it, you achieve it.

There was a nice array of outstanding exhibit ribbons and rosettes that went home with others over the weekend. The purple judge's choice and champion awards were scattered throughout the building, encompassing baked goods, home canned vegetables, fruits, and cackleberries, also known as "eggs."

Understandable, one talented youth, Josie Brown of Saco, again this year caught the attention of the judge. Many of her entries were purple ribbon recipients. An array of entries is shared. Nice work, everyone.
