One Nation, Under God

North Country News for Wednesday, July 31, 2024

Come one, come all, and that is what they did on Wednesday to help yours truly celebrate her birthday at the North 40 Cafe. Many ladies, some kids, and a few good men all enjoyed senior meals, cake and coffee. Thank you all from GMA Pat.

That same evening, we received sad news that another old friend, Virginia Larson Fewer had passed away in Lewistown from natural causes.

On Monday, the funeral services of Kathy Faya Black were held in Malta. She was a relative of Pat Murdock as she was married to Pat’s second cousin Billy Black. Billy’s parents were Bill and Ellen, a cousin to Pat’s father Egal Solberg, both coming from Norway in the 1920s to homestead south of Malta.

Debbie Anderson’s mother Judy and husband Bill Bennett have arrived from Texas to visit family and friends for a couple of weeks. It’s hot in Texas too.

Parents of farm trainee Einer Nielsson from Sweden are here to visit. Their son works for the Andersons. They are farmers too and enjoyed the Montana countryside while also visiting Yellowstone Park.

Tourism is next to agriculture as Montana’s biggest asset in hot or cold weather.

Emmett Skubinna is the only “ sheep herder” going to show sheep at the Phillips County Fair. Trax Simanton, Ryett Anderson, Lilliana Nielsson, Aidree and Adelane Math have pigs to show. Good luck to all participants.

Aidree and Adelane are 5th-generation Cross Country 4H members. Starting with Henry and Edna Math, their son Ben, his son Bobby, and then the girls’ dad Cody.

Brent and Debbie Anderson drove to Great Falls to see Brent’s cousin Doug Grubby who has had bypass surgery recently.
