Local Deputies Recognized With Medal of Valor

Two local deputies of the Phillips County Sheriff's Office were recognized and honored for their actions in the line of duty, stemming from an incident that occurred earlier this spring.

On April 29th dispatch received a call requesting assistance in a matter. Deputies from Phillips County Sheriff's Office, the Valley County Sheriff's Office and the Glasgow Police Department responded to the call.

Two of the officers responding from Phillips County, Deputy Wyatt Uphaus and Deputy Jesse Niehoff, are part of the S.R.T. (Special Response Team) based in Valley County. They were recognized for their part in handling the situation.

Uphaus and Niehoff each received a SRT Medal of Valor from the Commander of the SRT.

They are only two of the many that placed their life on the line that day, in the name of justice. All responders to the incident are to be commended for their reaction instincts and clear thinking skills.

When any law enforcement officer (EMT or fireman) leaves to go on duty, they don't tell their family good-bye. They part with, "See you later."

Thank you to all those that were called and responded, may angels be on your shoulder 'til you return home safe.
