Shirley (O'Brien) Jones (April 11, 1943 - July 6, 2024)

Shirley (O’Brien) Jones, 81, went to be with our Lord on July 6, 2024, in Glasgow, Mont.

Shirley was born on April 11, 1943, to James and Ethel (Nelson) O’Brien in Virginia. Shirley moved to Malta, Mont., at a very young age.

Shirley married Marvin Jones on August 26, 1959. To this union four children were born: Shawna, Marvin Troy, Mark and Darcy.

Shirley worked as a waitress and cook. She owned her own cafe, Bears, until it burned to the ground, but that didn’t stop her from cooking, which she loved. Shirley enjoyed her flowers, having a “green thumb”. Her roses were her pride and joy. Shirley worked at the flower shop many years. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4067 and had served as President.

Shirley is survived by sons Marvin Troy (Dora) of Malta, Mark (Linda) of Swift Current, Canada, and daughter Darcy (Dusty) Dowell of Malta, Brother Vince Schmoeckel (Carolyn) of Malta, sister-in-law Joyce (Donald) of Libby, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, daughter Shawna Jones, granddaughter Lacie Jones, mother Ethel Schmoeckel and step-father Harold Schmoeckel, sister Linda Brown and father James O’Brien.

Family graveside services will be July 19, 2024, at 11 a.m.

A luncheon for family and friends will be at the VFW Club at 2 p.m.
