One Nation, Under God
Adventure in Environmental Science
For girls in grades 5 to 8, the Girls STEM Camp will be held from July 23-25. This camp offers an exciting adventure in environmental science, with a focus on empowering young girls in STEM fields. Through engaging games, crafts, and hands-on activities, participants will delve into the world of ecology and discover the importance of environmental conservation. This camp aims to inspire girls to pursue their interests in science and foster a sense of environmental stewardship.
American Prairie Field School’s free summer day camps provide a unique opportunity for children to connect with nature, learn about the environment, and have fun in a safe and engaging setting. During each camp, the first two days will be spent at the National Discovery Center and the final day will be outdoors at the Brewery Flats Fishing Access.
“We are really excited to offer these summer day camps,” said Dusty Rixford, Education Coordinator for the American Prairie Field School. “These camps are a fantastic way for children to connect with nature, learn about the wonders of water ecology, and have a lot of fun while doing it.”
During the camp, participants will have the chance to observe and interact with various aquatic organisms, such as fish, insects, and amphibians. They will also explore the different types of plants that thrive in water ecosystems, discovering their vital role in sustaining these habitats. Through hands-on experiments and activities, campers will gain a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of life within aquatic environments.
Spaces for the free summer camps are limited, so interested parents are encouraged to register their children as soon as possible. Registration can be completed online or by contacting Dusty Rixford at 406-595-2209.
