One Nation, Under God
The mother of four active daughters with a love for horses and rodeo life, Kelly Orahood has taken a new approach to caring for any injuries any one of their horses might sustain. Though the girls are grown and scattered south and west, they are glad mom picked up her profession of becoming a PEMF provider. She has been certified for four years now and the service is also available for people as well.
She makes "corral" and "barn" visits, in addition to welcoming clients through her business doors. She recently did treatments on horses in Casper, Wyoming at the college finals.
Orahood had had certification training for PEMF which stands for Pulse Electro Magnetic Field, (Complete), Magna Wave, Top Performance Equine Sports Therapy, Association of Professionals (the red light therapy treatment); she is required to re-certify with Magna Wave annually. She originally invested in the equipment for treating horses and has since to care for people.
She shared, "The PEMF treatment sends a signal through the body through a coil that stimulates cell metabolism, this increases oxygenation and blood flow that helps support the body's natural function in a drug-free way.
PEMF increases circulation exponentially and continues to work in your body for up to 72 hours detoxifying and healing cells. Also, she offers pneumatic compression and celluma red light. She has clients bring their horses into town to meet her.
Orahood said, "I've dealt with everything from helping broken bones heal faster, arthritis, aches, pains swelling, loss of range of motion, nerve damage, effects from COVID, migraines, leg ulcers, bruising, rashes, sinus and chest congestion.
The Red Light has to see skin to work, but my compression and PEMF can work on you fully clothed. But all are really efficient, and I've worked on keeping them affordable. Depending on the coil used, a PEMF signal can be sent 16-40 inches through the body. A typical session for people lasts between 30-60 minutes."
As with any injury, it's always best to get in as soon as possible after an injury or you get sick.
"I'm just a layman in "wellness management," but I am very fortunate that I'm able to go to all levels of medical professionals upon orthopedic surgeons with a question or advice."
In addition to the treatments stated above, she also offers pneumatic compression and celluma red light. Each offering a different alternative if one of the therapies won't work for your situation.
PEMF has been intensely studied and used by NASA; it was developed by Dr. Michael Davis, a NASA rocket scientist and is FDA-cleared.
Orahood is married to local rancher, Jim, and their daughters are Jessie, Frankie, Billie, and Georgia.
The equipment is used at her studio salon in the Studio Stiles business at 153 S. 1st Avenue East. You can find her there on Mondays and Thursdays.
