Secretary Christi Jacobsen: 'State Canvass completed for Montana's 2024 Primary Election'

“Montana’s 2024 Primary Election results are official,” Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced on Thursday. “Today, the Board of State Canvassers completed the official State Canvass procedure at the State Capitol Building.”

Representatives from the Attorney General’s Office, Office of Public Instruction, and the State Auditor’s Office completed the canvassing after 5 p.m. on Thursday evening.

In accordance with Montana law, the Board of State Canvassers declared that the candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast during the June 4th Primary Election have been nominated and will advance to the General Election. Once the Commissioner of Political Practices notifies the Secretary of State of candidates’ compliance with applicable filing requirements, the Secretary of State’s Office will provide successful nominees with certificates of nomination.

County canvassing procedures were completed earlier this month.

“Thank you to the Montana Elections Team and every individual who served on the County and State Canvass Boards,” said Secretary Jacobsen. “Montana’s post-election procedures are crucial for ensuring accurate results and transparency. Congratulations to all of the nominated candidates in Montana’s 2024 Primary Election.”

Montana’s General Election is Tuesday, November 5. Secretary Jacobsen reminds eligible Montanans to register to vote, confirm their registration, and learn about Montana’s electoral process by visiting VoteMT.gov.
