NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED FY24 BUDGET AMENDMENT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of County Commissioners of Phillips County, Montana, intend to amend the budget for the 2024 fiscal year and that said budget amendment affects the following functions: Local Bridge and Road Fund, Sheriff, Oil & Gas, Aging, General Nurse and PILT.

The purposed amendment will be due to the unanticipated revenue received from the State and Federal government and other grants. Details are open to public inspection in the office of the County Clerk, 314 S 2nd Ave W, Malta, Montana.

The Board will meet on the 3rd day of June, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. for the purpose of holding a public hearing and consideration of the amendment to the original budget. Said hearing is to be held in the Commissioners' Office in the Phillips County Courthouse, 314 S 2nd Ave W, Malta, Montana.

Any taxpayer or resident may appear at the hearing and will be heard for or against any part of the proposed budget amendments.

For further information, please call the Commissioners' office at (406) 654-2429 or the County Clerk's office at (406) 654-2423.

Written comments are encouraged and will be reviewed by the Commissioners if received by the Phillips County Commissioners' Office at least three business days prior to the hearing.

Notice of Location of Polling Place and Accessibility Designations

Statement of the Location of Precinct Polling Places and Accessibility Designation for Phillips County for the June 4, 2024, Federal Primary Election:

The polling place for all Phillips County precincts (11NE, 11NW, S1 and S2) will be located at the Phillips County Courthouse at 314 S 2nd Ave W in Malta. The polling place will be open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. This polling place has an accessibility designation.

The Phillips County Tax Appeal Board will be in session from July 1 through December 31, 2024 for the business of hearing appeals. Any Taxpayer who disagrees with the appraised value of their property may file an appeal with the Phillips County Tax Appeal Board within 30 days of the date on your Notice of Classification and Appraisal from the Department of Revenue or 30 days after you receive a decision from the Department of Revenue following an informal review under Form AB-26.

Appeal forms are available on-line at http://www.mtab.mt.gov or from the Phillips County Clerk & Recorder's Office at the Courthouse, 314 S. 2nd Avenue West, Malta, Montana.

Notice of Method of Counting Absentee Ballots

Absentee ballots will be publicly counted on election day at the Phillips County Courthouse in Malta. Votes will be counted beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in the Phillips County Election Office as specified in 13-15-201, MCA by a DS200 Tabulator. Vote counting procedures are open to public observation. Any person observing the procedures of the count must take the oath provided in 13-15-207(4)(a), MCA.

13-35-241. Release of vote tally -- penalty.

(1) A person may not make public the results

of a vote tally from a precinct until after the

polls close as provided in 13-1-106.

(2) (a) A person who knowingly violates

subsection (1) shall be imprisoned in the state

prison for a term not to exceed 2 years or be

fined an amount not less than $100,000 and

not more than $500,000, or both.

(b) For the purposes of this section

"knowingly" has the meaning specified in

45-2-101.

Results will be posted after 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at

https://electionresults.mt.gov/.

Accepted provisional ballots will be counted and added to the vote totals at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024 in Phillips County Election Office, 314 S 2nd Ave W, Malta. The Post-Election Audit will be held at

11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024 in the Phillips County Election Office, 314 S 2nd Ave W, Malta. The County Canvass of the Election will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024 in the Phillips County Election Office, 314 S 2nd Ave W, Malta.
