One Nation, Under God

Loring/Affinity News for Wednesday, May 22, 2024

Even though I am not living in Loring anymore, the American goldfinches have stopped to visit, and my friends have reported the “sightings”! The soft little chirping sounds are always a joy!

Big weekend for many seniors, as they go from high school on to the next step. Congrats to Paige Wasson, Kendall Scheffelmear, and Ava Hanley as they graduate from Whitewater High School. The month of May is always so busy for students! The track meets and golf meets all are celebrations. It sounds like the track team did great at Divisionals with personal records! And will compete at the state level.

I have a tiny “farm” where I have planted radishes, two tomatoes, a cucumber called pickle bush, and a flower. I did plant some cantaloupe seeds, but they haven’t come up yet. Some of the gardens are very beautiful and some are planted with precision! Fun to watch what is blooming each day! I’m still planning on some more flowers.

I taught a watercolor group on Saturday. I had six artists painting birch trees. They are fun to paint and always turn out beautiful! Carol Lumsden surprised me and joined us for a while. Then we went to lunch and Carol dropped me off before heading back to Loring! She was down here to attend her granddaughter’s graduation from preschool! She also got to watch the gymnastics class her grandkids are participating in.

On Sunday, the Affinity community hosted a taco potluck. I was the host, but I had many people to help out. We set up and served approximately 60 people. I wore a serape, and the room was decorated in a Mexican theme. Reminded me of some of the events we had at the Loring Women’s Club!

Jeannie and Zoey stopped over on Wednesday for Zoey’s birthday! She is nine now! On Saturday we all went to the Reef for cake and opening presents. Wow, the kids had a great time in the slides and water park!

I’m sure the brandings have almost wrapped up. The cows are in their summer pastures and most of the seeding is done. School will be dismissed in a few days and the kids will be out for the summer!

Be safe!
