One Nation, Under God
Nationally known as "The Last of the Real Singing Cowboys," Ken Overcast will be in Malta, Montana, for the June 28-30, 2024 Milk River Gospel Jamboree.
Ken brings a program of songs, stories, humor, and a faith born of Western heritage and a working life on horseback under the Montana sky to all three days of the Jamboree. An award-winning singer, songwriter, and author, Overcast has received the coveted Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists.
"We are pleased to welcome Ken Overcast and his unique way of sharing the Western life and Gospel message as part of the 2024 Milk River Gospel Jamboree," said Jamboree Organizing Committee member John Koss.
A third-generation Montanan, Ken was born into a ranching family along a stretch of the Milk River know as "Paradise Valley." He literally grew up on a horse. He married his childhood sweetheart, Dawn, and they run a commercial cow-calf operation on Lodge Creek in Chinook, MT, in addition to his singing career.
Ken has written about half of the songs on his eight Bear Valley Records label CDs produced with Nashville producer Russ Ragsdale. In 2007, the Montana Legislature designated one of those songs, "Montana Lullaby" co-written with Wylie Gustafson, as its Official State Lullaby. Ken's "Montana Cowboy" CD earned a Cowboy CD of the Year Award from True West Magazine.
The singer is also an accomplished storyteller who has delighted crowds at the Montana Storytelling Roundup and cowboy poetry events. He is the author of several books of short stories about the Western life, landscape, and characters. His "Sittin' 'Round the Stove: Stories from the Real West" is a Will Rogers Medallion winner.
Due to popular demand, Ken produced a DVD of his story about "The Kamikaze Cow." Until a fire destroyed his home and studio, Ken also recorded a nationally syndicated radio show, "The Cowboy Show with Ken Overcast." Learn more about Ken at https://kenovercast.com or contact [email protected].
