One Nation, Under God

Loring/Affinity News for Wednesday, May 8, 2024

Happy Cinco de Mayo! What a busy week! The main activity in north Phillips County on Saturday was the Gopher Hunt! Kenny Clark reported there were 54 teams registered and more than 6600 gophers met their demise that day! One badger appeared but scampered way back into his burrow as he reconsidered how hungry he really was! The businesses around the county were very generous with their donations for the prizes. Grilled burgers and fresh fries were served for lunch and for dinner, pulled pork and baked beans were on the menu! Kenny reported that it was a very good fundraiser!

I went out with some friends from Affinity for breakfast on Tuesday. Friday was Grandparents Day at Elder Grove where my granddaughter attends school. I was invited for lunch with her.

Auntie Brandie was also there!

Congratulations to Everett on his piano recital. He takes lessons from Nana Lumsden, but Nancy Murdock included him with her 30+ students. Ellie and Aubrey and Matt Norville also played at the recital!

Nancy Murdock accompanied at the State Music Festival. She played with the musicians from Whitewater and several from Malta. I got to attend the festival on Friday afternoon and saw Sommer Green perform. Kennedy and Shelbi sang a duet. Then a trio of Kennedy Simonson, Sommer Green, and Shelbi LaBrie. Dallas and Ashley Green and Rory, Julie Austin (I’m not sure of her married name), from Joliet, and Jeanie Depuydt from Billings were also in the audience! Mylee Clark and Ava Hanley performed also, but I didn’t see them. Janice Erfle, grandma from Billings, was able to be there! All the entries got a one! It’s just fantastic!

Nancy did stay overnight with me. We went out to eat with mother/daughter Elizabeth Stickley, and Jenny Oxarart. It was a fabulous time!

Cindy Clark saw the nest in the tree on Nick’s Coulee has been claimed again this year! So please, people, don’t harass it and make her leave the nest!

Have a nice week!

*Just saw the invitation on Montana Stars and want all my sisters and brothers from Sacajawea to know I am thinking of you all and wishing the best for this joining of sisters and brothers! Love Dixie.
