Stuart Wins At Fort Benton Invitational

The Malta golf teams competed at the Fort Benton Class B Invitational last Monday, April 15.

The Malta Mustangs were led by eighth-grader Regan Stuart, who won the event with 76 strokes.

"Regan had a great day in Fort Benton!" Malta Head Coach Kate Webb told the PCN. "He has performed well in our youth league and tournaments we put on in the summer, so I had no doubts he would compete well amongst this field of players."

She said that he is a level-headed player that doesn't get ruffled when things don't go his way during the game.

"I'm excited to see what he does through the rest of the season!" Coach Webb said.

Choteau's Kellen Meyer was second with 81 strokes.

Malta senior Hunter Stolem was tied for eighth place with 90 strokes. Eighth-grader Kruise Stiles was tied for eleventh place with 94 strokes. Eighth-grader Michael Love was fourteenth with 96 strokes.

Sophomore Kylie Bishop led the M-ettes in Fort Benton and tied for fifth place in the girls' varsity with 108 strokes. Teammates Brittney Sorlie and Emree Stuart were not too far behind. Sorlie, a junior, earned eighth place with 110 strokes and Stuart, a sophomore, was tied for ninth place with 111 strokes. Freshman Amelia Johannesen was 25th with 145 strokes.

The Malta golf teams also participated at the Shelby Invitational on Monday, April 22 at Marias Valley Golf Course. Results will be available in the May 1 PCN. The Malta golfers were scheduled to compete at the Wolf Point Invitational on Thursday, April 18, but the event was canceled.
