Malta Track Teams Compete in Havre

The Malta Mustangs and M-ettes competed at the Havre Invitational last Saturday in Havre.

The M-ettes scored 69.33 points and were second out of seven teams competing in the varsity meet. The Mustangs were fifth of eight teams playing and had 50.5 points.

Havre won the mens and womens meets with 179.5 and 200 points respectively.

"It was a beautiful, sunny meet with only eight teams competing," Malta Head Coach Shyla Clausen said. "We were missing a couple of athletes due to sickness and injury. The goal of the meet was to do better than we did Wednesday, and the kids succeeded. Not only did we have kids place, but several kids improved from the Cal Wearley Meet."

The Cal Wearley Memorial Meet was rescheduled to Wednesday, April 10. The Mustangs were thirteenth with nine points and the M-ettes were twelfth with 12 points.

"Despite it being a cold and very windy day, the Mustangs and M-ettes did a great job," Coach Clausen said. "Our goal for the meet was to compete and do our best. There were 34 teams there with over 2000 entries and 693 athletes. Not only did we have kids place at the Cal Wearley meet, but we also had several personal 'wins'."

M-ETTES

At the Havre Invite, Denvyr Tuss won the varsity discus with a personal record (PR) of 104-9. She was second in shot put with a throw of 31-7.75. She was also second in the Cal Wearley shot put with a SR of 32-11.

The M-ette long relay consisting Neva Jacobson, Brooklynn Knowles, Karlie LaBrie, and Addison Ulrich was second with a time of 4:39.74.

Freshman Emma Ereaux was second in pole vault after clearing a PR of 7-0.

Knowles, a sophomore, was third in javelin with a throw of 93-5.

Freshman Carly Mears was third in pole vault after clearing 6-6. Mears was sixth in the Cal Wearley Pole Vault after clearing a PR of 7-0.

Junior Ava Hanson was third in shot put with a PR of 27-10.75.

Sophomore Kenzie LaBrie was fourth in shot put with a PR of 26-5.

The short relay consisting of Jacobson, Ulrich, Knowles, and Caitlyn Wilson were fourth with a time of 56.04.

Sophomore Kendall Clausen was fifth in javelin with a throw of 90-3 and sixth in high jump after clearing 4-6.

Sophomore Neva Jacboson was fifth in long jump with a PR of 14-9. Jacobson was fifth in the 100 hurdles with a PR of 18.55.

Freshman Averee Matthews was fifth in shot put with a throw of 26-4.

Ka. LaBrie was sixth in the 100 hurdles with a PR of 18.84.

Freshman Caitlyn Lankford nearly placed in discus and was seventh with a PR of 74-8.

MUSTANGS

The Mustangs were led by senior Gavin Slade who took first in javelin with a PR of 150-4. Slade was fifth in discus with a throw of 112-6 and sixth in shot put with a throw of 38-11.5.

Sophomore Landon Retan was second in discus with a personal best of 132-11.

Junior Bohdi Brenden was second in the 800 with a personal best of 2:08.47. He was seventh in the event at the Cal Wearley with a time of 2:16.79. Brenden was fifth in the Havre Invitational high jump after clearing 5-4. He was sixth in long jump with a personal best of 18-8.75.

Junior Mason Simanton was third at the Havre Invite's high jump event after clearing a PR of 5-8. Simanton was also fifth in the 100 with a PR of 11.79 seconds.

Sophomore TJ Siewing was third in shot put with a PR of 44-4. Siewing took fourth in the event at the Cal Wearley.

Sophomore Michael Mayer was sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:49.56.

The long relay consisting of Kyle Darrington, Brenden, Mason Sjostrom, and Trooper Stiles took fifth place with a time of 3:56.

Stiles was sixth in pole vault with a personal best of 8-6.

The short relay consisting of Darrington, Brenden, Simanton, and Slade was sixth with a time of 48.84. At the Cal Wearley, the short relay consisting of Darrington, Hammond, Simanton, and Slade took third with a time of 46.84.
