One Nation, Under God

North Country News for Wednesday, March 27, 2024

I am back again, with a little variety of news.

I received this "note" from a friend of mine who has since moved from the community.

Dear Whitewater,

I miss you all very much and I wish I lived closer to you all, closer, to reach out and touch you and lend a helping hand. To return the kindness you have given me which was so grand.

You accepted me openly as one of your own and made my life comfortable and made my heart feel at home.

I found it hard to leave such a place—my very own paradise. I will never forget the good times and some of the bad times. My life is so much fuller, happier and true because God has blessed me to know people like you...

It did my heart good to receive this and I hope it made you feel good too. There are a lot of good people in this county.

My great-grandson Whit Ozark (9 yrs), son of Walter and Billie Sky Ozark, came home from Billings recently with a 4th place medal (midget class) from the AAU wrestling tournament.

Also, Trax Simanton (12), son of Guy and Carli Simanton, came home with a 6th place medal as well as his sister, Gray, with a medal for 4th. These kids sure are tough!

This past Friday, Therese Haynes and Pat Murdock went to Saco to watch Jason and Lacey Beil's three kids in the play Jack and the Beanstalk. I was brought by Missoula Children's Theatre. Royce Strobbe, Rowdy and Ridge Beil did great!

In 2002, there were 79 students in the Whitewater school. I don't know the exact enrollment now, but it is less.
