One Nation, Under God

Where Does Time Go?

Wasn’t it great, after a long week of activities, tournaments, and events and exhausting one’s self out, to wake up one hour earlier! I can hear some sneers and groans as you read this. So many people lost that hour of opportunity to get their life in order…dern it! It slipped away! Wouldn’t it be nice to just decide where the clocks should be and please Mr. Benjamin Franklin, the bankers and golfers…and alleviate the need to reset clocks around the house, then read the manual to set the car clock, or just get used to adding one hour to the time displayed! Technology.

And what a weekend it was for the Maverick’s in the North Country as they claimed the Class C Girls’ Basketball State Championship! My great-niece, Sommer Green of Whitewater, sang the National Anthem at the opening of the game, with a beautiful voice ~ and she did the song such justice!

The M-ettes wrapped up their season with a loss by three points ~ oh so close…it wasn’t meant to be…thanks for giving it your all and making us proud. As Coach Scott King would say, “it’s a great day to be from Malta,” and though it was a loss, be proud…think of all the teams that didn’t make it that far. Thanks, Elly, Giona and Addie ~ for your leadership and devotion to the M-ettes.

How many moms are hearing, “where are my track shoes,” as the season switches in the blink of an eye? Before one knows it, graduation and the close of the 2023-24 school year will be but a memory.

And where does time go…do you ever contemplate the possibility of turning back the time as your young ones grow, to preserve the memories. Perhaps not so much right now, but as they grow, keeping them young seems to be a goal of many mothers. A friend once said, in reference to the Carter’s Clothing commercials, “if they could just stay little ‘til their Carters’ wear out,” …they keep on a-growing; so hold on to the memories…as they will become treasures.

Spring will be here next week and calving is upon some already; the crocus will be popping up all over the countryside and don’t forget, sweet peas will add color to the dry grasslands across the prairies. Mud will be tracked in; hopefully from rain showers, not just spring thaw. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit with your neighbors during Ag Day at the City Hall on Friday, Mar. 22nd.

So, spread your wings and enjoy spring…it’s going to be a great one this year! The PCN will be sharing some planting news next week, so get ready. “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow,” as the saying goes. Shake off the winter cobwebs and get ready to spring into spring with a great big smile. What a beautiful world we live in!
