One Nation, Under God

Loring News for Wednesday, February 28, 2024

As I said last week, Rodney drove me up to Loring and the weather was fantastic. We saw two bald eagles and about 50 hawks, which happens at this time of year. We did not see any newborn calves, but I’m sure they will be coming soon!

I had a wonderful time up North! Cindy Clark, Carol Lumsden and I made an international journey on Tuesday to Val Marie. I asked to get a stamp for my passport when we crossed into Canada. It’s my first use of the passport, and I’ve had it for 5 years! We ate lunch at the bar and cafe. The sign said, “We serve Chinese and Canadian food!” It was delicious. As we cruised around town we saw a sign about the local hockey celebrity, Bryon Trottier!

Wednesday was senior meals in Whitewater, so off we went to the east! Lynn Hill came down to the North 40 to visit for a few minutes. It’s good to catch up with the local happenings!

Thursday the three Amigos trekked to Malta so I could get a haircut. What a difference it made! I stopped at CHMS to drop off a few papers and talked with Thora. Then I saw Debbie Hammond and visited with her on the sidewalk! When I got into the car my friends gave me a bad time because I was talking to everyone and almost was late for my appointment! Myrtle Hould was in to get her hair done also! What a lovely lady! She reminded me that she got her start in Loring in the 30’s and 40’s. We met Nancy Murdock at the Tin Cup for lunch. Lots of reminiscences happening!

We paid a call to JoAnn Hammond in the afternoon. Her mother recently passed away. Loring residents send sympathy to the family on the death of the matriarch of the family.

Saturday, I helped Zayden, my great-grandson, celebrate his second birthday! I’m hoping I get invited to many more birthdays of grandkids, too!

Bob Ochsner of Florida and Larry Ochsner, of Glasgow were in Billings for a huge round of basketball games! I had breakfast with them on Sunday. Bob loves to plan his Montana vacation around the class A, AA and B basketball tournaments!

My son, David, won second and third in two different categories of brewing beer in a contest here in Billings.

Until next time!
