The North Country Lady Mavericks and Dodson Lady Coyotes basketball teams are heading to the postseason!
The teams will head into this weekend's 3C District Tournament at Glasgow High School on opposite sides of the bracket. North Country enters as the regular season conference champions at 18-0 (12-0 in the conference) and Dodson was sixth in the conference with a 5-12 record (2-10 in the 3C conference)
The tournament is set to start on Wednesday, February 14, and conclude on Saturday, February 17.
The Lady Mavericks have earned a first round bye and will face the winner of Lustre (13-5) and Frazer's (7-11) game which is set to take place on Wednesday at noon. North Country's game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The Lady Mavericks are aiming to win their fourth straight District 3C Championship.
"This season and these last four years with this special group of seniors has been an incredible journey to be a part of," Lady Mavericks Head Coach Amber Erickson said. "They are focused, locked in and ready to enjoy each game and our run together!"
Dodson will face the Circle Wildcats (14-4) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner will likely face the Scobey Spartans who also had a 14-4 overall record.
Only four of seven teams will move on to the Divisional Round set to start on Wednesday, February 28 in Glasgow.
Lady Mavericks
The Lady Mavericks won their final two games of the regular season last week, defeating the Lustre Christian Lady Lions 61-24 on Friday, February 9, and the Lady Porcupines 67-6 in Nashua on Saturday, February 10.
In the Lady Mavs' win over Nashua, Paige Wasson led the team with 15 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Shelbi LaBrie had 11 points, three assists, and three steals. Teagan Erickson had ten points, eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
In the Lady Mavericks' win over Lustre, Erickson led with 16 points and nine rebounds. Wasson had 14 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists. LaBrie had nine points, three assists, and three steals.
Kendall Scheffelmear had six points, four rebounds, and two blocks. Josie Brown had six points. BaiLee McColly had five points. Kodi McColly had three points and Gracie Wasson had two points.
Lady Coyotes
The Lady Coyotes split their last pair of games to end the regular season. They defeated Box Elder's JV team 47-27 on Friday and fell 74-19 to Circle on Saturday.
Kashton Siers led Dodson in their victory over Box Elder JV with 15 points. Jazlyn KillEagle had 11 points. Amara "Big Mars" Cochran had 10 points. Lily TurnsPlenty had seven points. Precious Stiffarm had two points and Kataya KillEagle, who was honored during the game for Dodson's senior night, was allowed to score the point's first two points of the game. Kataya, who is Dodson's all-time leading scorer, suffered a season ending injury earlier in the season.
