One Nation, Under God
Dear Proud Phillips County Citizens,
We wanted IT, we needed IT, and we got IT! Now what??? Let’s keep IT!
The “IT” I am referring to is the River’s Bend Assisted Living. We may not understand how we can help when we don’t have someone to move into River’s Bend now, so I thought I could share my opinion regarding that.... I love doing that!
One action we can take is to support the amazing lunch meals provided by River’s Bend, Tony, Emily and awesome Chef Barb. The Congregate meals they prepare for Seniors are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 to 1:00. River’s Bend wanted to extend that to include Monday and Wednesday 11:30 to 1:00 for seniors and for the general public. They prepare a full-bodied home-made soup with a salad bar that includes up to 10 different salads. Their hospitality is so warm and coffee cups are always full and all of these meals have a HOME-MADE dessert.
The people who gather are a combination of singles and couples who enjoy great conversation, laughter, companionship, interesting topics, and support of all kinds.
It is very healthy for all of us to mingle with others and what a great way to do that, by sharing a meal.
The atmosphere is pleasant, clean, upbeat, well decorated....and for the most part, we leave politics at the door. How great is all of that!
It is truly a bonus for the residents at River’s Bend to see people coming in and enjoying their home; they are so grateful. I remember how my mom, Lois Goodheart, would walk to the Hi Line to say hi to the residents to brighten their day as she thought that is what she would enjoy. She is now a resident of a facility in Great Falls, and I remind her of her thoughtfulness in doing that, day after day, week after week, stretching into year after year. In our amazing Phillips County community, there are many others that give in this way including our sweet Frances Demarais, who blesses so many by her presence and gifts, and bless her heart, she even washes windows!! Thank you to all, like Frances, who take the time to brighten the days of all the residents.
Lastly, our gracious hosts, Tony and Emily Simonsen, always thank us for coming by and ask what more can they do for our community. They want everyone to know their facility is open for all sorts of activities, just name it and they will do their best to accommodate.
I am issuing this invitation to all you great and proud Phillips County citizens to support River’s Bend and enjoy great food, comradery, and spread good will. All are welcome! When I say, “We must use it, or we may lose it.”, please don’t let that happen to our community as, one day, we may all need this facility.
In friendship,
Dianne Salsbery
