Dodson To Host Lustre, Frazer

The Dodson Coyote and Lady Coyote basketball teams faced their Harlem JV and Nashua counterparts last week.

Dodson will travel to Box Elder to face the Bears and Lady Bears on Thursday, February 1. The girls’ varsity will start at 4:30 p.m. followed by the boys’ varsity at 6 p.m. They will then face Lustre Christian on Friday, February 2, and the Frazer Bearcubs on February 3. The games against Lustre and Frazer will be held in the Coyote Den and are set to start at 5:30 p.m. with the girls’ varsity game to be followed by the boys’ varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Coyotes had a gritty 73-64 loss to the Harlem JV Wildcats on Thursday, January 25, in Dodson. The Coyotes had seven athletes that night, while Harlem had a full lineup of over 12. The Coyotes also fell 70-54 to the Nashua Porcupines on Friday, January 26.

The Lady Coyotes picked up a 35-31 win over the Nashua Lady Porcupines on Friday, and fell 48-33 to the Harlem JV Lady Wildcats on Thursday.

In the Lady Coyotes’ win over Nashua, Precious Stiffarm led the team with 10 points. Kashton Siers had eight points, Jazlyn KillEagle had seven points. Baylee Johnson and Amara Cochran both had four points, and Kyra Campbell had two points.

The Lady Coyotes outscored Nashua 21-9 in the first half and led 31-17 heading into the fourth quarter. Nashua held Dodson to four points in the fourth quarter and scored 14 points, but the Lady Coyotes held on to win.

In the Lady Coyotes’ loss to Harlem JV, J. KillEagle led with eight points, four rebounds, and two steals. Cochran had five points, nine rebounds, and four steals. Stiffarm had five points, eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Johnson had five points, three assists, and three steals. Lilyian Turnsplenty had four points. Siers had three points, six rebounds, and two steals.

In Dodson’s loss to Harlem JV, the Coyotes were led by Lance KillEagle who had 24 points, six rebounds, six steals, and three assists.

Junior Stiffarm had 19 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, six steals, and three blocks.
