PCSO Addresses Bomb Hoax

At 8: 30 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, a Malta Elementary School faculty member received an email with a vague message and a threat that a bomb had been placed in the school. The email was immediately reported to the Phillips County Sheriff's Office and the FBI was notified. Sheriff Jerry Lytle and examined the suspicious email. It appeared there were multiple recipients. Sheriff Lytle, Undersheriff Robinson and three deputies conducted a search of the Malta Elementary School as well as the Malta High School. No suspicious items were discovered during the searches. There does not appear to be a valid threat at this time. The incident is under investigation by the Phillips County Sheriff's Office as well as the FBI.
