One Nation, Under God

Loring News for Wednesday, November 8, 2023

The Loring/Whitewater community has lost another resident and our sorrow for the family is deep. Leroy Simonson passed away from a massive heart attack on Saturday. He was a classmate of mine in Whitewater. Sympathy for the family.

Anne Boothe was in Billings for a few days and took me out to lunch and to a home décor store. I really enjoyed visiting with someone from “home” and actually liked to see all the merchandise in the store! If you don’t know, I do not like to shop!

I remember when we had Jam sessions at the Loring Bar with Donna and John Schaefer. Donna would have these spoons and a whole bunch of other instruments to keep time with.

She’d pass them out and we could keep time or not. So, I made a pair of spoons, and the band members asked me to join the band and sit with them. Wow! I didn’t even have to know which key the songs were written in! Louie Miller is a regular at the jam session. He taught himself how to play the guitar at 70 and he sings and plays the harmonica!

My sister Debbie went to a fossil-rich area in the Pryor Mountains with her nephews and had a great time collecting some marine fossils.

Congrats to the Lady Mavs taking second at the Divisional Tournament in Sidney! I was able to watch some of the games on NFSH.

I appreciate your cards and notes! Getting mail has always been a celebration for me, all but the bills!

I’m having trouble with this time change; it’s only been one day. Have a great November!
