One Nation, Under God

North Country News for Wednesday, November 1, 2023

A big congrats to our country girl on her 1st place win in the Cross Country (3-mile) race at the state meet in Kalispell last weekend!!

Everyone woke up on Wednesday the 25th to a few inches of snow and cold. Lots of calves got shipped out that day with no trouble. It's been down to single digits at night! Boy, the 70-degree days sure were nice.

Lynn Hill was in Havre recently to attend a conference for school clerks. She is the Whitewater school clerk and has held that job for many years. Her husband Bruce is a man of many talents, a painter, working with wood and native American artifacts. They live Northeast of Whitewater. Lynn and Tricia LaBrie are the school bus drivers for our northeast route which only has nine children.

Ten-year-old Trax Simanton got a nice buck on the season opener for youngsters. He shot his buck on his grandparent's place, Doug and Rhonda Simanton north of Malta.

A visitor from Sweden, Claes Martinsson came to visit his son Philip who works at the Brent Anderson farm and ranch. He got in on shipping day and saw the other jobs his son is involved with on a big Montana ranch.

Nine-year-old Ryett Anderson is playing basketball in Malta on a young kid's team.

Kenan LaBrie is making news playing football (son of Kris and Tricia) and also Dawson Hammond (son of Nate Hammond). Both boys are grandsons of Mike and Debbie Hammond.

County livestock judging day was held at the Pavilion in Malta on Sunday. Cross Country 4H members up north are Trax Simanton, Ryett Anderson, Lillyana Nielsen, Aidree and Adeline Math.

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!
