One Nation, Under God
Montana K9 Safety, along with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, will offer a free workshop for dog owners interested in learning how to free dogs from traps. The workshop is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 3, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Best Western Plus, 1425 US Hwy 2 (on the hill) in Havre.
For centuries, people have trapped furbearers across Montana. Fur trapping is highly regulated, biologically sustainable, and an important part of Montana's cultural history and outdoor lifestyle. However, sometimes traps that attract or surprise targeted animals may also put the family dog or bird dog in a bind.
This workshop will provide participants with the skills to assist their dog in the event it is accidentally caught in a trap. All types of traps will be discussed, along with information on:
Trapping laws and regulations
Trap release techniques
Hands-on skills
K9 emergency care
Trap release tool kit
The workshop is free, but participants must register in advance by going to the Montana K9 Safety webpage at http://www.montanak9safety.com, find the Havre workshop, click on “book”, and fill out the necessary information.
FWP ensures that its events are fully accessible to persons with disabilities. To request special accommodations for this meeting, or for any questions, please contact Marc Kloker at 406-228- 3704.
