Demarais Named to Carroll College Hall of Fame

Malta High School Alumni Chance Demarais was recently named to Carroll College's Hall of Fame for his record-breaking efforts on the football field.

The following is from a press release by Carroll College written about their Hall of Fame ceremony held on Saturday, September 23.

Homecoming weekend is here, and with it comes a new class of standout Carroll College Fighting Saints from years past joining many other greats in the Carroll Athletics Hall of Fame.

(Last) Saturday morning, the annual Carroll Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (took) place at the Carroll College Campus Center. Five individuals and two teams will forever be memorialized as some of the best of the best in front of family, friends, alumni and Carroll supporters.

The Carroll College Athletic Hall of Fame honors Saints athletes who have left a lasting legacy on the college with their careers as exemplary student-athletes. Those inducted into the Hall of Fame have demonstrated the highest standard of sportsmanship and accomplishment in their athletic endeavors. Members of the Hall often set records, win championships and earn other distinctions for their achievements on the field and in the classroom. The Carroll College Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes student-athletes, coaches, staff, teams and others whose athletic successes advance the college's tradition of champions.

Here is what the school said of Demarais: Demarais goes down as one of the greatest running backs to ever wear a Carroll uniform. A member of the 2010 NAIA National Championship team, Demarais excelled both on the field and in the classroom. In both 2010, and 2011, he was named First Team All-Frontier Conference as well as Academic All-Conference and NAIA Scholar-Athlete. In 2011, Demarais was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year, AFCA First Team All-American, and most impressively, the NAIA National Player of the Year. In total, Demarais rushed for 4484 yards, had 425 receiving yards, and finished with 50 career touchdowns. His 2011 final stat line included1861 total yards and 21 touchdowns.

Others inducted include: Alysha Green - Women's Basketball, Andy Garland - Men's Basketball, Bubba Bartlett - Football, Jimmy Mee - Men's Golf, the 2008 Football Team, and the 2011-2012 Men's Golf Team.

Chance Demarais is the son of Margaret Demarais and Darren Demarais and Shelley Demarais.
