PCSO, Glasgow Special Response Team, Respond To Dangerous Situation

On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, shortly before 8:00 P.M., the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suicidal male firing a weapon in his residence near the intersection of South 8th Street and Central Avenue in Malta, MT.

The reporting party also stated there was an adult female in the residence with the subject and that all known firearms had been removed from the residence prior to contacting law enforcement.

Sheriff’s Office personnel were called out to deal with the situation.

An outer perimeter was established around the residence and contact with the subject was attempted but failed. Nearby residents were contacted and asked to evacuate their residences until the incident could be resolved.

A phone call was made to the Special Response Team from Glasgow to respond to assist in the matter. A short time later, the adult female emerged from the incident residence and told law enforcement officers the subject was inside asleep.

Personnel entered the residence and took the subject into protective custody. He was transported to the Phillips County Hospital for an evaluation.

The investigation is ongoing and once completed, will be forwarded to the County Attorney’s office for their review and recommendations.
