One Nation, Under God
If it had been a wedding anniversary, it would have been the year of Sapphire. Being a funeral director, however, the protocol and presentation is a finely handcrafted wooden plaque.
Greg Kirkwood, and his wife, Jan, traveled to Miles City last weekend when Greg was presented with a plaque recognizing 45 years of service as a funeral director.
Kirkwood graduated from Wichita West High School in 1965; following he entered the service in the US Air Force seven days after graduation. Through his stint in the AF, he was sent on a mission to recover a downed 135 as part of the Arc Lite Mission in Okinawa and served some time in Vietnam.
Upon his discharge in June of 1969, he started his studies in the field of mortuary science in Wichita, KS, spending two years in Oklahoma before he headed north to the hi-line of Montana. He met Jan on a blind date at Glasgow Air Force Base in April of 1966, the lady who has the full-time task of keeping him grounded since then. When he returned from overseas, they were married in April 1967. They at a point in time moved to Wolf Point. They later moved to Malta and have been residents since.
Greg is active in the Malta Lutheran Church, the Men in Mission and the Gideon's. He sold his funeral business in December 2019 and purchased the Villa Theatre.
