One Nation, Under God

Where the Rubber Hits the Road

From parked perfectly, all a glisten and a glow...the limelight moved from the Car Show on Front Street on Saturday, June 3, across the canal to the outskirts of town to the dragstrip. Surrounded by sound barriers of various trees at the east entry, the drag opened the gates for the first of a season of dragster competition of the year.

AND OPEN THEY DID! Montana style. The colorful array of entries made for eye-catching views as the cars raced usually in pairs, to speeds over 100 mph getting the feel of power in the wheels and power in the rubber.

Occasionally, a cloud of white smoke filled the skies and often were accompanied by sounds loud enough to remind one where they were.

Old faces (hmm...familiar faces?) and new to the race track faces were welcomed by the Phillips County Motor Sports families as the day got underway and the season off to a good start.

Missing are the Canadian friends and fellow racers. With the border closed, there is uncertainty when or if their company will be enjoyed this year.

Winners from the races will be in next week's Phillips County News.
