Fay B. Smith, 86, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Peaks Assisted Living in Flagstaff, AZ.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
Fay was born in Malta, Montana, on May 5, 1936, to John and Daisy Smith. She attended Northern Montana College in Havre, MT, receiving a diploma for Legal Secretary in 1956. Fay married Lowell A. Smith in 1956 and together they raised three children. In 1971 they packed up the family and a U-Haul and headed south, the family settled in Cortez, Co. They built homes until they moved to Truth or Consequence, NM, in 1982, where she started The Fabric Shop which she operated until 1995, when they moved to Williams, AZ.
There they enjoyed the mountain trails until they moved to Chino Valley where they lived until Lowell's death in 2013.
Fay and Lowell's lifetime spanned five states, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, and Arizona. Fay always found time to sew and have a garden wherever she lived. They traveled throughout the Western United States, parts of Canada, and Mexico to visit family and fish. They also enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada.
Fay is survived by her children, Tony Smith of Elizabeth, CO, Karen Carley of San Antonio, TX, and Ron Smith and wife Lorraine of Flagstaff, AZ. Fay also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren with one on the way and her sisters Evalee of Great Falls, MT and Mary of Malta, MT.
Fay was preceded in death by her husband Lowell, her parents John and Daisy Smith, brothers George and Robert, her daughter-in-law, Erica Smith, and her son-in-law John Carley.
