MOTHER NATURE IS NOT NICE
The worst snowstorm of the winter had blocked roads in Phillips County.

Meantime the Bowdoin Oil and Gas Company and the Homestake people were plugging away at less than 2,000 feet with all concerned waiting for the roar of a gusher.

CAN’T TRUST SOME PEOPLE
Frank Lampman, local saloon keeper, made a trip to Glasgow to marry Ione Gilbert of that place. “He left a greenhorn in charge. The gang got next to the bar to the tune of $800 before Malta businessmen learned of the affair and locked the place up. Some of the boys started a poker game and the innocent bartender was soon dishing out drinks and cigars to the greatest aggregation that had lined up before a bar in Malta for many a day. He was simply overwhelmed with business, all of which was transacted in chips. Champagne flowed like water and Havana cigars went by the box. Everybody had chips, red, yellow, and blue until the rack was empty. The boys had a glorious time while it lasted.”
