The North Country Lady Mavericks are currently 16-0 after picking up a pair of wins last weekend.
The first was a 41-19 victory over Glasgow’s JV on Thursday, February 2, and the second a 46-21 win over Scobey in Whitewater on Friday, February 3.
The Lady Coyotes are 1-12, but battled hard against the Poplar Lady Indians on Saturday, February 4, in Dodson. They also fell 61-13 to the Roy-Winifred Lady Outlaws on Friday night in Dodson.
For Dodson’s last week of the regular season, they will face the Frazer Bearcubs in Frazer on Friday, February 10. They will also host the Lustre Lady Lions on Saturday, February 11. The night will also serve as Dodson’s Senior Night.
North Country will travel to Lustre on Friday and then host Frazer on Saturday, February 12, in Saco.
Lady Coyotes
In the Lady Coyote’s loss to Poplar, Kataya KillEagle led with 16 points. Lindsey Fetter had 12 points. Jazlyn KillEagle had 10 points. Lilyian Turnsplenty had five points and Jaymiee Stiffarm had four points.
Teams were even in the first quarter, with both squads totaling 12 points in the first quarter. Poplar took over in the second quarter, outsourcing Dodson 22-9. Both teams had 15 points in the third quarter, and Poplar outscored the Lady Coyotes 13-11 in the fourth quarter.
In their loss to Roy-Winifred, K. KillEagle had seven points, J. KillEagle had four points, and Trinity Crawford had two points.
Lady Mavericks
In The Lady Mavericks’ win over Scobey, Paige Wasson had 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Teagan Erickson had eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Shelbi LaBrie had seven points and two assists. Kora LaBrie had seven points.
In the Lady Mavericks’ win over Glasgow, Wasson had 10 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. Erickson had nine points, eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals. K. LaBrie had eight points and a season-high eight steals.
“Lady Mavericks had a great weekend battling through two physical games,” North Country Head Coach Amber Erickson said. “Our girls have come so far in their ability to play through physicality and I am proud of them for that.
“I thought our defense was very solid, both in our man and our zone,” Coach Erickson continued. “Everyone is stepping up and continuing to contribute in so many ways which is exactly what we need at this point in the season as we get ready to close out the regular season and head into tournaments.”
